I've started doing a whole new body of work that I'm very excited about! I've started using genuine butterfly and moth wings in my jewelry. Yes real wings! I got the idea when I hatched cecropia moths from cocoons. They are so awesome! They only live a few days and they don't even have a stomach. They laid eggs and their little black caterpillars grew into huge green dragons and now they've spun cocoons. It's all been very interesting. I think their wings as well as other beautiful moths need to be preserved in a way to display their beauty. I mean what's more beautiful than nature? So I've found a wonderful glass cutter in Utah (Tim Trent) who is hand cutting and hand beveling glass to put over the wings. I'm setting the entire wing just like gem stones in either a single slide or a very elaborate piece. On the back of the piece I've engraved the genus and the species and where they're from. The pictures really don't do the pieces justice; the iridescence is really quite spectacular. Obviously they're all one of a kind.

No butterflies or moths are harmed in the making of my jewelry. None of them are endangered or illegal and they are naturally deceased.

Please call for butterflies & designs available.
